La Dolce Vita began its journey in the United States in 2020, amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, founded by chef and entrepreneur Hilal Nasser. During a visit to America to spend time with his family, Hilal noticed a lack of high-quality gelato shops in the Silicon Valley area. Having crafted authentic Italian gelato in his home country, he realized he could bring something unique to the local community.

After careful research and planning, Hilal decided to open the first La Dolce Vita branch in the U.S. He received full support from his uncle, a businessman who has lived in the United States for years, providing him with both financial and moral backing to fulfill his dream. This was despite the tough challenges posed by the pandemic, especially as many stores were closing at the time.

Hilal opened the first store in Milpitas at Great Mall, confident that authentic Italian quality would attract gelato lovers in America. With his dedication to sourcing the finest ingredients from Italy, and creating a variety of flavors to satisfy all tastes, the first store quickly gained popularity despite pandemic restrictions. Hilal also prioritizes offering options for everyone, including vegan and sugar-free flavors, meeting the needs of people with different lifestyles, adding a unique touch that has made La Dolce Vita a special destination.

Following the success of the first store, Hilal and his uncle expanded La Dolce Vita by opening several more locations in the state, including two additional branches in Roseville and San Jose. Today, La Dolce Vita is a leading brand in the gelato industry and continues to pursue growth by opening new branches.

Hilal is also committed to supporting and training a new generation of gelato makers by offering specialized courses that teach the art of high-quality gelato making. He opens doors for those aspiring to start their own business or even open new branches under the La Dolce Vita name.
